Country roads, take me home
The next morning, I left the nearly empty hotel near Muhammad Ali Airport for home. My goal was to make no fuel stops after filling the tank back up until I landed back on my bit of the driveway I share with my landlords, a feat made possible not only due to the big tank, but the overall range of around 460 to 470 miles. The only other vehicle I know that can do that is a Nissan Maxima.
Along the way home on U.S. 460 East, I usually pass by a spot on the highway near the New River. I promised myself I would one day stop for a moment to see what was there.
What is there is one of the oldest rivers in the world. The New River is the third oldest around, and the oldest in North America, formed over 100 million years ago. Not a bad spot for a short photo shoot with the Tundra TRD Pro in its second home.
In closing…
The 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro CrewMax handled its mission very well. I was also happy with the big V8 up front, and the roomy rear section of the cab. And of course, having a big fuel tank to make a 450-mile trip is a huge plus.
While the introduction of Android Auto was welcome, I would love to see the rest of the dash receive a big upgrade, from the gauges to the steering wheel. I also wonder what a few more gears would do for fuel economy; I managed around 17 miles per gallon overall.
If you\’re looking for a big truck from outside the Detroit Three, you can do no wrong by giving this Toyota a look or two.
