Over 35 years ago, Hyundai landed in the United States with a single model, the Excel. Nearly 169,000 copies left the showroom in the Korean company\’s first year on our shores, a record for a new (to us, at least) auto company doing business in its first year.
Since then, Hyundai has travelled through the winding road of life, improving upon all aspects of its business along the way. Today, the company offers a wide assortment of machines for all needs and stages of life, from the high-performance N models, to crossovers and SUVs of all sizes.
Of the latter, the biggest of them all is the Hyundai Palisade. Introduced in 2018 for the 2019 model year, the eight-passenger SUV replaced the Santa Fe XL as Hyundai\’s flagship SUV. And with the right trim level, it\’s as close as you can get before crossing the street to the Genesis dealership.
That trim level, of course, is the Palisade Calligraphy. During its week with me, it more than left its signature upon the road.
