Over 20 years ago, Toyota launched the Highlander. Unlike the 4Runner or Land Cruiser, the midsize crossover was one of the first car-based machines, riding upon the same Toyota K platform as the Lexus RX, which, in turn, underpinned the Camry.
Also unlike the rough-and-tumble off-roaders in the Toyota family, the Highlander delivered a more comfortable experience to customers seeking such a machine.
Four generations later, those who seek Lexus-style comfort at a Toyota price can have a Lexus ES with three rows of extraordinary comfort and utility, straight from Indiana, in the form the 2020 Highlander Platinum (both are based on the TNGA-K platform, which, of course, also underpins the Camry).
